London CIV make new appointments to the Board

London CIV is pleased to announce the appointment of two new independent Non-Executive Directors (NED), Yvette Lloyd and Mark Laidlaw will join the Board in January 2022, and a Shareholder Nominated NED, Cllr Peter Mason, Leader of London Borough of Ealing, who was nominated by Shareholders, and appointed in December 2021.

The appointments of Yvette and Mark were made following an open recruitment process which attracted interest from a diverse range of applicants.

Cllr Rishi Madlani, Chair of London CIV’s Shareholder Committee and a member of the appointment panel said “I am pleased to welcome the new appointments to the London CIV Board. They will bring a wealth of investment, financial services, customer and local government experience to the Board for the benefit of London CIV and its shareholders.”

Mike Craston, Chair of the London CIV said ”I am delighted to welcome Yvette, Mark and Peter to our Board. They each bring with them a vast range of experience which will deepen the investment product and regulatory expertise available to the Board, whilst complementing the experience of our existing board members. I expect this to strengthen our ability to deliver our pooling strategy and to advance our collaborative work with our Client Funds to meet their requirements. I look forward to working with them over the coming weeks and months.”

Yvette Lloyd biography

Yvette Lloyd is Head of Investment Product Structuring Solutions at BNY Mellon Investment Management EMEA Ltd, overseeing a range of product solutions across Europe and Asia. She brings experience of providing strategic advice on product structures across equity, multi asset, real estate in both public and private markets, for both retail and institutional investors in the UK, EMEA and Asia.

Yvette has over twenty years’ of experience working at large asset management firms as part of the senior leadership team, facilitating decision making by participating in and leading investment and product committees, Boards and workshops. Her experience includes market analysis and portfolio strategy; strategic production evaluation, planning and implementation of complex projects; fund governance including producing UK Value Assessments; governance of fund of funds and model portfolio propositions, retirement solutions and the implementation of ESG factors across a global fund platform. She has served as a Member Nominated Director of a large UK pension scheme and an advisor to the Trustee of a Charity serving on the Investment and Income Committee.

Yvette will become a member of the Investment Oversight Committee.

Speaking about her appointment Yvette said “I am thrilled to be joining the LCIV Board and to utilise my investment expertise to support the needs of key workers through effective communications, sound governance and technical product insight.”

Mark Laidlaw biography

Mark has over 30 years experience in financial services primarily within life, pensions and asset management and is a qualified actuary. Mark most recently was Corporate Strategy Director at LV= and held a number of roles including as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Chief Risk Officer (CRO) at AEGON UK. Mark is a Non-Executive Director of Omnilife, Kilter Finance and Scottish Friendly as well as a Trustee of the LV= pension scheme.

Mark will be a member of the Compliance Audit and Risk Committee (CARCO).

Speaking about his appointment Mark said “I am excited to be joining the Board. I am keen to use my extensive financial services knowledge and regulatory experience to help the London CIV with navigating a path to delivering value add through asset pooling.”

Cllr Peter Mason biography

Peter Mason is the Leader of the London Borough of Ealing.

Before being elected Leader in 2021, he served on the Ealing cabinet in various portfolios including housing, planning, skills & employment as well as public service reform and transformation.

Peter's wider interest in the built environment includes his membership of the Old Oak and Park Royal; Development Corporation (OPDC).

Peter was the Head of Public Sector at a leading digital engagement PropTech company and also spent five years at City Hall working on public health, transport and infrastructure. He is a trained town planner holding a Master’s in Urban Regeneration.

Cllr Mason said ”I am pleased to have joined the London CIV Board and see my role as important in supporting the development of London CIV in collaboration with London local authorities so that it delivers the best possible outcomes for beneficiaries and other London stakeholders, working towards a sustainable future.
